GRADE 3

In Literacy, we have been learning about narratives. We learnt how to write a fairy-tale with a different ending and a fable with a moral lesson. We watched a video of the story ‘The Ant and the Dove’ and then planned and wrote our own story with an important message. I also learnt how to revise, edit and publish my own work. We can also add more details to make our writing interesting to read.

In History, we learnt about celebrations around the world. We learnt about ‘Chinese New Year’, how it started and what the history behind it is. We also researched and found out how ‘New Year Eve’ is celebrated in different countries. It was interesting to know how some events are celebrated differently in many parts of the world.

Art is one of my favourite subjects. It is fun to do paintings and make crafts. In the last two weeks, we made a dot painting, ‘The Rainbow Serpent’ and a ‘Chinese New Year Dragon’. I loved it.

In Maths, we learnt how to do addition and subtraction with trading. We played card games to practise place value and addition facts. It’s fun!

In Health, we learnt how to stay healthy. We know about the five food groups and they are: Protein, Grains, Fruits, Vegetables and Dairy. We made a ‘Food Pyramid’ and we are working on our ‘Healthy Eating Poster’. We need to research on the computer and type a word document. It is going to be fun! - Mutahira Ali

P.E. is a good way to get some exercise, stay healthy and lose weight. I love our P.E. sessions and playing various games like basketball, soccer, dodge ball etc.
